Community Health Coaches

The Commuinity Health Coach (CHC) programme aims to recruit, train and retain local volunteers as Health Coaches. Health Coaches can be trained as Get Cooking, Get Walking or Get Gardening volunteers.

CHC is live in six sites throughout the Waikato with 6 coordinators from a vairety of provider groups delivering local health activities. Almost 20 volunteer Health coaches have been recruited and over 100 people have benefitted from the programme. Over 30 new healthy lifestyle activites are being delivered in communities by the CHC programme.

Kai at the Right Price

Paretiki Daniels is the Community Health Coach Coordinator for Huntly based at Rakaumanga Kura. Paretiki is working with Population Health (Health Waikato) in promoting 'Kai at the Right Price'. 'Kai at the Right Price' is a box of fresh fruit and vegatables at low cost and available to the local community to promote healthy eating and lifestlyes. The programme involves local volunteers and is aimed specifically for Kaumatua in the Huntly area. Paretiki is also planning to support the development of community gardens to encourage extended whanau to grow their own kai and aims to bring the local community together.
