Diabetes Education For Healthright Co-Ordinators And Whanau Ora Maori Health Workers
This month these groups of community health workers came together at Kakariki House for four days of comprehensive diabetes education. Waikato Diabetes Service staff facilitated the education sessions which included nutrition, exercise, diabetes statistics, and eye disease to name a few. The participants enjoyed some exercise and a supermarket tour, as well as an insightful trip to the Dialysis Unit at Waikato Hospital where they heard first hand from a kidney transplant patient.
The community health workers gained significant diabetic education from these sessions which they will take out into the communities they work in. More joint education is planned for later this year. See photos here or for more information contact info@waikatopho.org.nz. Interdisciplinary Care
As primary health care becomes more complex and sophisticated there are some big
challenges about service philosophy and service delivery regarding integration like:
health and wellbeing of people enrolled with WPHL?
departments with a focus on the wellbeing of people enrolled such as ACC, WINZ, Housing New Zealand and the NGO sector?
exacerbated, as we proceed to address the above two questions? To view the full document please Click Here Te Roopu Oranga Niho go from strength to strength
![]() The group was formed in 2007 following the expansion of the WPHO funded Oral Health Facilitator programme. This is a perfect example of primary care service providers coming together to enhance each others services, and to improve oral health outcomes for our tamariki.
