Nursing Portfolio
Why have a portfolio?
- The NCNZ requires all nurses under the HPCA legislation to keep evidence of their continuing competence.
- A portfolio identifies achievements and learning needs and provides a process for acknowledging your knowledge, skills and expertise developed through experience.
- It provides an opportunity to reflect on your nursing practice.
Portfolios should include:
- Curriculum Vitae (qualifications, employment record)
- Position description
- Self assessment against the Nursing Council competencies
- Peer review / assessment OR performance review
- Copy of practising certificate
- Record of clinical hours – minimum requirement is 450 hours of nursing practice in the past 3 years
- Record of professional development –minimum requirement is 60 hours over the past 3 years
- Current other certification appropriate to your area of practice
